About
Leah MacLeod is an emerging US oil painter whose figurative animist paintings explore the promises, whispers and shouts overheard from the Otherworld. Her work continues a tradition of using art to explore and invoke the magic surrounding us and the unspoken bargains of our existence.
Each painting is made consciously and slowly using traditional oil painting techniques on wooden panels and is intended to exist as a grounding and restorative touchstone. They are painted onto birch panels with artist quality oil paint made from earth pigments and minerals in a linseed oil base.
No part of the process of their creation involved any kind of large language model or generative algorithm. These are paintings made to bring the fens and the forests, the dark and the light, into a space in order to hold back a plastic world of monetized extraction.
